Frequently Asked Questions

This page lists the most frequently asked questions we receive about the MOLE system. If you cannot find the answer to your question, please feel free to register your interest or contact us.

Can I buy the system outright?

The managed online learning environment is only available as an annual subscription. The benefit of this to an organisation is regular upgrades, access to Regional Food Group’s repository and continuous support throughout the license period.

What support is provided during the subscription period?

Throughout your license period, support is available from Regional Food Group via all of the normal communication channels during the working hours of 9-5pm, five days/week. To contact the helpdesk please call 01937 830354.

What training, if any, is provided to staff using the Managed Online Learning Environment?

As part of your subscription to the managed online learning environment, Regional Food Group would provide training to all system administrators. The number of days would be agreed prior to the annual license start date.

Can my agency labour force use the managed online environment?

Yes, you can use this system for your agency labour provided they have purchased an annual license to the managed online learning environment. Please contact Regional Food Group if you wish us to talk with your labour provider about this.

Will the managed online learning environment run movie files?

Yes – One of the services RFG can offer is the production of video materials; these can be very large files and have been run through the managed online learning environment without any problems.

How secure is the managed online learning environment?

All data held within the managed online learning environment is stored on a secure server, which is backed up regularly. Each individual company has its own secure area within the server, to ensure that no other company can access their area. Each individual will also have their own unique user id and password.

How long does it take a learner to complete each module?

Each module takes approximately four hours to complete, but it does entirely depend upon the learners’ ability to take in information, use computers and the environment in which they are undertaking the studies.

Are the Foundation Food Safety, Health and Safety and Quality materials accredited?

The materials are not currently accredited, but do cover all the topics in the CIEH (Chartered Institute for Environmental Health) programmes.

The EEC directive on food law states that:

Food business operators are to ensure:

  1. That food handlers are supervised and instructed and/or trained in food hygiene matters commensurate with their work activity.
  2. There is nothing in food safety law that says companies have to complete an accredited programme. What the managed online learning environment enables companies to do is create their own certificates and have all the necessary evidence for each individual that has completed the course, all of which is stored within the managed online learning environment. Your own company specific training material can also be uploaded to create a very comprehensive course.

Is it possible to report on which learners have completed or not completed each course?

When using the managed online learning environment, you are able to export data from the system to an Excel document. This information can contain all data relating to any course activity, for example the completion of an assessment. This data can then be adapted to suit your needs i.e. create a formula to provide you with user’s refresher date.
